A first date can be one of the most memorable, romantic, fun, and cherished moments for your girl. At the same time it can also be one of the most nerve-wracking things for you… you don’t know each other, your heart is palpitating because she’s friggin’ hot… she got all dressed up for you with sexy heels, a hot mini-skirt, and some perfume that makes you lose your mind when she’s near you. With all of this making your hormones rage, you’ve got to figure out a way to keep your cool, take her out on a fun date, and be a great conversationalist too.
Whew! That’s quite a tall order. So here at AskAsianMen.com, we’re going to take a little bit of the work off your shoulders, and eliminate one critical variable that might be floating in the air: where to take her.
- A coffee shop
Coffee shops are great places for a first date because they are everywhere, they give you a great environment in which to talk and get to know each other, and they are really inexpensive. Why is inexpensive important? There’s a pretty good chance that the girl will get freaked out if she feels that you’re over-extending yourself to take her out. So bring her to a coffee shop (like Starbucks), and get to talking!
- A museum
Museums are great because so few guys take girls here. They’re usually pretty quiet, and they not only give you a chance to talk and get to know each other, but also have great exhibits that you can experience together. Again, this is a super-low-monetary-investment thing, and therefore will be low pressure for the girl (and also for you). Museums often have lots of wide open spaces that are really quite, thereby giving her an automatic sense of intimacy with you. Schwing!
- A bookstore
Wanna find out a little more about this girl without having to even ask? Take her to a bookstore, and browse through a few sections. See which ones pique her interest while you do the get-to-know-you-better conversational thing. Plus, most Barnes and Noble’s or Borders bookstores have a coffee shop built in, so you can get a nice hot cappucino (or a cool Mochalata Chill) while you rest your laurels.
- A public park
Parks are great because you get to walk around, and because of the wide open spaces that they afford, they’ll give the girl that same low-pressure situation that you’d get with any of the other suggestions in this list. Why? Because it’s so open and public, she’ll get the feeling that she’s staying on the date with you because she WANTS to be with you, and not because she’s somehow pressured to stay with you (for politeness sake, for saving face, or for some other silly reason). We definitely want the girl to WANT to be with you. For the girls that are a bit more on the quiet side, and would prefer people watching rather than “being seen,” this is the best place to take ‘em.
- Shopping
Got something you need to get for your apartment? A new set of dishes? A bath towel? A new graphic t-shirt? Take the girl shopping! When you set up the date, tell her you want to meet up for [insert your favorite activity here], but that you first need to run a quick errand to get a graphic t-shirt (or whatever it is). If you’re taking her to a clothing store, you’re pretty much guaranteed that she’s going to be in a good mood. With all the various clothes, colors, shapes, and sizes, she’ll be so high on chick crack that your conversational skills will seem about ten times better than they might currently be. Why work so hard to get her into a good mood when the interior decorators of the store can do the work for you? Take her shopping!
